You can create the turning point a child needs to fight their critical illness.

Our Story

It all started with a 7-year-old wish to become a police officer for a day. Chris’ wish was life-changing for him and those who helped to achieve it. It inspired the creation of Make-A-Wish as well. Founded in 1980, Make-A-Wish has been granting wishes to thousands of children battling critical illnesses globally.

We sincerely believe that with every granted wish comes hope and strength that anchor children going through such challenges.

And now, Make-A-Wish is expanding to a new chapter. Sharing the same calling, Make-A-Wish KSA lends a caring hand to children and families during their challenging journey. We witness their bravery, we are touched and transformed by their perseverance, and like millions of people in all quarters, we are inspired and humbled by their strength. Their journeys are an ongoing precious lesson on the power of joy, community impact, the marvels that imagination brings, and the light that hope sparks!

A Message from
The Chairman

Makarem Sobhi Batterjee – Chairman of the board, Make a wish foundation, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Honoring a rich legacy of care and a solid commitment to giving back and benefiting our community, we are happily extending our endeavors to a new sphere. With so much gratitude, we are collaborating with Make-A-wish International patronaging its new affiliate in KSA.

As relieving suffering is a deeply rooted value for our family, we found it aligned with the mission of Make-A-Wish; together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We believe in how hope, empathy, and love can impact our local community.

Backed by our experience in leading and managing a wide range of industries, including healthcare, education, and wellness services, we are fully equipped and powered to introduce a new Make-A-Wish Affiliate to our Saudi community. We acknowledge the desire of thousands of our fellow friends to share the same quest of bringing hope to the lives of those little champions battling critical illnesses.

Giving back to our beloved community has always been an asset to our foundation. Now, we invite you to step in our quest of sparkling hope and giving love to transform the lives of our children and their families. Collectively, we can bring joy and gratitude to their challenging and inspiring journeys.

The wish
journey

In order for a wish to be granted, it goes through 4 steps, each building on the next until the wish finally comes true.

Step 1: Referral Process

The initial step involves gathering referrals from medical experts, parents, and the children themselves. Children aged between 2 1/2 and 18 years old, who haven’t previously received a wish from another wish-granting organization, might qualify for a wish.

Step 2: Medical Assessment for Eligibility

The child’s medical eligibility is determined through collaboration with the treating physician. The child must have a diagnosed life-threatening medical condition – specifically, a condition that is progressive, degenerative, or malignant, and poses a threat to the child’s life.

Step 3: Discovering the Genuine Wish

Our enthusiastic wish teams are dispatched to uncover the child’s heartfelt wish. Dedicated volunteers engage with wishful children to delve into their imaginative desires, seeking the perfect experience that will bring them delight and inspiration.

Step 4: Crafting Moments of Joy

Our wish granters curate an unforgettable experience guided by the child’s own creativity. This extraordinary undertaking not only enhances the lives of the children and their families but often has a positive impact on the entire community.
